The Practical Nursing curriculum provides knowledge and skills to integrate safety and quality into nursing care to meet the needs of the holistic individual which impact health, quality of life, and achievement of potential.
Course work includes and builds upon the domains of healthcare, nursing practice, and the holistic individual. Content emphasizes safe, individualized nursing care and participation in the interdisciplinary team while employing evidence- based practice, quality improvement, and informatics.
Graduates are eligible to apply to take the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX-PN) which is required for practice as a Licensed Practical Nurse. Employment opportunities include hospitals, rehabilitation/long term care/home health facilities, clinics, and physicians鈥 offices.
Admissions Requirements
Practical Nursing (PN) Minimum Requirements
- Complete the RCC admissions process (听 apply to RCC, submit all transcripts)
- 颁辞尘辫濒别迟别诲听听 BIO听168听听 and听 BIO听169听 听with a grade of 鈥淐鈥 or higher.听(Applicants may be enrolled in BIO 169 in the Spring 2027 semester.)
- 颁辞尘辫濒别迟别诲听听 CHM听131听 听(with lab听 CHM听131A听 )听or听听 CHM听151听 听with a grade of 鈥淐鈥 or higher.听(Applicants may be enrolled in听CHM听131听/A or听 CHM听151听 in the Spring 2027 semester.)
- Have a听2.5 GPA听or higher from all completed pre-requisite and nursing general education courses. GPA calculation includes:
- Be in Satisfactory Academic Standing with 宅男福利社 (2.0 or higher听RCC cumulative GPA).
- Attend a听mandatory Nursing Information Session in the 2026/2027 academic year.
- Hold current certification in听听Adult and Child CPR听 issued by the or .
- Current Nurse Aide I (CNA) in North Carolina. Must be listed on the听 . (Applicants may be currently enrolled in a Nurse Aide I class in Spring 2027.)
- Complete the听TEAS exam听with a minimum score of听55%. Scores are valid for 24 months (2 years) from time of application.
- Essay鈥撎齇ne page, double spaced, typed statement responding to the following questions: What makes you a strong candidate for the PN program at 宅男福利社? What is the biggest challenge you will face in the PN program?
